"Dominique Jerell Younger better known as “Domi Young” was born in Albuquerque New Mexico, but migrated to Southern California (Oceanside) at the tender age of five years old due to his father’s murder and other family related complications. Dominique's father Jerol Younger named “Domi” after the basketball legend Dominique Wilkins, and the love of basketball would stay with him like the name that he received! Domi always loved music and its function. Domi Young developed a ear for music from memorizing countless popular lyrics by many artist including: A Tribe Called Quest, Kris Kross, Onyx, the Isley bros, 2 Pac, Das efx, the Notorious BIG, Slick Rick, Prince, Jay-Z, Rakim, NWA , Outkast, DPG, Pete Rock and Cl Smooth, Da Brat, and many other influential artist. One day at his grandparent’s house he noticed that his aunt was reading a piece of paper to an instrumental with a couple of her friends. Fascinated by the rhythmic cadence Domi started practicing instantly! Without knowing how to properly format lyrics into a song properly, Domi expressed his self the best way he could, through free styling. Not many artist are witty enough to develop or posses this skill. Domi began to sit in his room for countless hours with his ear to a boom box working on perfecting his technique. As years passed he began to build a more extensive vocabulary; in addition, Domi’s similes and use of metaphorical adjectives built his lyrical content. Domi first picked up a pen and actually started writing his ideas when he was thirteen years old. Around this time period Domi meet fellow local emcee: Qwiccshott in high school through a battle (Qwiccshott and Domi would battle twice and each of them would win once). Domi's cousin Rossi always was involved in music in all forms and later on these gentlemen would form the group the NobleZ including: AO, Bruce, and other Noble aphilliates: CAP, and XXX. The NobleZ would perform in numerous pep rallies and school dances. Later on the NobleZ would meet AKtive beats (a close friend of Rossi) and release a compilation with the title reading; “Aktive beats presents: the Noble RidhaZ” selling close to 300 units on campus @ Vista High School! Due to creative difference the group would slowly deteriorate as clique, but individual still maintain a brother like relationship. A couple years later, Domi started attending his first year of college at Cal State San Marcos and he would release his debut solo album as a learning experience. The album like mix tape was titled: "Tha Voice of a Youngsta", Domi sold over 450 locally by his self! Domi also opened up for Gorilla Black when he performed at the Show Palace during this time. Domi Young was now working along the side of BAM beats, L.V. MCree, and a few others that were a part of My House Productions during this duration. After his first solo project Domi took some time to craft a more efficient delivery and word play ability. Not being fazed by what hip-hop has become in the past five years (corny dance step oriented, drug infested, violent, sexually exploited) Domi has found his nitch bringing a new and innovative way of rhyming to the forefront. Domi brings refreshing new concepts to Hip-Hop, and an immaculate as well unique way of rhyming. Keying the phrase and his name of the up and coming album titled: “d0mi-U-n3Ek” (domi-unique/dominique) scheduled to release his latest project in the late spring-early summer of 2009. Domi has now joined the forces of his good friend M-Dot, and now is the newest addition to the triumphant group West Bound known now as: “Get it Bwoy Records”. Lately, Domi has been performing at local venues in the North County and San Diego area including: The Jumping Turtle, Tropics, CSUSM, SDSU, Woodies, Brick by Brick and The Cow Shed. Currently Domi is planning to go on a tour all through California this summer and is pending a lot of life changing moves." - Domi Young
